By oviedostyle

You may have heard of Susan Taylor as the Editor of Essence magazine. Before that she founded her own make up company Nequai Cosmetics. Once again she has started a new venture with Essence Cares, a mentoring program to reach children across America and bring up High School graduation rates among African American students.

Essence Cares has partnered with The National Urban League; 100 Black Men of America; The Links, Incorporated; and The YWCA.

I was very inspired after reading her article in Essence magazine. For more information on Susan CLICK HERE

  1. Deanne Meningall Says:

    Greetings Susan Taylor

My name is Deanne E. Meningall, I am the author of my new book entitled,
The Melanin Diet, I am self publishing through http://www.wordclay.com.

This one of a kind book uniquely outlines how melaninated people can live healthier lives by making healthier selections when choosing food, thoughts, water, sunshine etc. We must understand that it is not specifically about food because everything we do, say and believe will have an equal affect on our lives.

Moving the body, healing with water, good thoughts, prayer and mediation can all be a part of the process of living healthy, long lives in this country. Our systems are unique and different that warrants a higher vibrational approach from our topical creams and lotions to our internal voice which will also feed us and everything in between.

Daily sunshine, hydration with pure water, eliminating all toxins, properly cleansing the body internally and externally and having positive vibrations towards your life and the people in it, is all apart of our ability to live healthy, whole and complete lives on a daily basis. Television shows, music, cell phones and all other sources of outside stimulation must be observed and researched to determine its deleterious affects on/in the melaninated person since this has yet to be determined. I am contacting you to inform you about my book, The Melanin Diet.

The Melanin Diet discusses in more detail these and several other topics that can and will impact the lives of melaninated people. The time has come for us to make the necessary changes to alter our health status in this country; taking it from dismal health statistics towards a healthier life and well-being

    Kind Regards,

    Ms. Deanne E. Meningall

    A Brief Bio

Deanne was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. At the age of 12, after a few years of private piano lessons, Deanne played in a piano recital at the internationally renowned, Carnegie Hall in NYC. She excelled in public school and graduated from Midwood High School in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

Deanne graduated from Bennett College for Women and holds a B.S. degree in Biology. She moved to Atlanta in the early 1990’s where she studied numerous religions, including BCN, Science of Mind and Yoruba teachings as well as spiritual tenets of Buddhism, Creative Visualization, yoga and meditation.

Deanne used her scientific training to develop herbal formulas for her clients; she would also speak to various groups about alternative health and wellness. Some of her speaking engagements included staff at the Morehouse School of Medicine as well as different women’s organizations and churches in Atlanta.

Having a strong science background, Deanne taught at Emory University, Department of Biology, conducted research isolating the EBOLA virus at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. She has also conducted HIV research at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In spite of her extensive resume in the sciences, Deanne’s passion would emerge as a student of alternative health and wellness and alternative methods for healing the mind, body and spirit. Deanne approaches the body, mind and spirit as one unified field of energy that must all be in concert with each other for the person to live a healthy, whole and complete life.

Her interest and desire to study these alternative healing modalities would take her two thousand miles away from the east to Phoenix, Arizona to explore her interests at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, affectionately called, SWIHA to study with founder/teacher KC Miller. The program she will be completing is the Mind Body Wellness Practitioner in January 2009. To date, she has already completed and become certified as a Life Coach and Hypnotherapist specializing in couples coaching, spiritual coaching and Nutritional Consulting.

Deanne is single and lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her two cats, Tashi and Tucker.

Deanne is available for interviews, speaking engagements and (spiritual) coaching sessions. Please email her at healingatthewell@hotmail.com or call 480-287-1188

    Thank you

Excerpts from Deanne Meningall’s book, The Melanin Diet….

    Chapter 4 Dis-ease

    Page 35

“Dis-ease is an abnormal condition in a melanin-rich hue-man being. The body was designed to heal itself when it is supported by proper nutrients-pure water, natural sunlight, exercise, rest, and mediation and life-affirming thoughts. Dis-ease cannot exist or manifest in the presence of a balanced, body that is taken care of, mind and spirit. It is impossible.”

    Chapter 9 God/Goddess Self

    Page 101

“God is the only reality that exists, the absolute reality; it it only through an ignorant or a conditioned mind that the world, exists outside of the presence of God. This is erroneous information, and not a spiritual understanding of the universal law. Many believe that we are separate objects and entities away from this power and presence. This is relative reality. In connection, with our Creator. We must become one with this Absolute Truth (GOD).”

    Epilogue

    Page 105

“As soon as we decide to eat better, exercise, drink lots of water, rest at night and get plenty of sunlight, we will manifest a life full of high vibration and positive situations will be drawn to us. Once we are aligned with the goodness of life, only goodness will arrive. Believe that you are worthy of it, and it will show up. Even though our history in this country has been one of an expectation of despair and apathy, we can turn this around in a blink of an eye. Just change your experience by changing what you focus on, find the good in everything and more of it will show up.”

  2. Shari Hudson Says:

I was very pleased to read the information about Ms. Meningall and on her interest in alternative healing. I am the Founder of Brand New Woman, ann organization that speaks to women in the community about Womens Wellness and other issues we as women face. I am organizing a Womens Wellness conference in September 09 and would love to have her speak at the conference about her book and the alternative ways of inner healing. We are all about Mind Body and Spirit and speak highly on taking ownership of your own body and knowing that you are only given one to live in.
I met Susan Taylor at a WISE conference here in Syracuse in 2008 and was able to state to her who I was and what Brand New Woman was all about. She mentioned something in her speech that stayed with me and that was to listen to the message that your body is sending you. With what you are consuming on a daily basis and how you feel afterwards tells a person a lot about their body and what they should and shouldn’t put in it.
I just wish you the best of luck with your degree and your book. I hope to be able to speak with you about your book. I have a book club as well and will add this to our book selection.
    Thank You,
    God Bless.
